Kingsway Farm, Inc. was established in 1997 and was the culmination of years of hard work and drive.

Head trainer and owner, Donna Thompson has been involved with horses since the age of 7. Experienced with a wide variety of breeds, Donna's speciality is problem solving.  She has a wealth of experience training the youngest of horses through the advanced levels in several of the disciplines.

Donna has been a rider for hire for twenty years. Working seven years on a race track farm, Donna worked training two year olds for the track, handling lay-ups, and assisting with foaling. Donna work experience includes six years working part time with an Equine Vet, eights years Fox Hunting on the east cost and ten years on a western pleasure, hunt seat farm and breeding operation, becoming experienced in both AI and natural breeding methods.
Donna has owned and operated Kingsway Farm since 1998 specializing in working with problem horses from trail to show and foaling out weanlings to teaching senior horse horses and people.

In 1999 Donna became an Equine Appraiser with the American Society of Equine Appraisers. In 2000 she was named local trainer of the year for 4-Her's and in 2001 was the Coach of the Year from the Bay Times.

Now working mainly with  older youth and adults, Donna and her clients compete in Open to Regional and National shows. In 2005 Kigsway became involved with the new Arabian Sport Horses, a move Donna is very excited about. Donna holds her Open judges card from North Carolina UV. She has completed her first set of training for her AHA/USFE card. In 2007 Donna received her POA judges card from NCUV.

Donna's husband, Donnie is the owner of Thompson and Son Masonry of Cordova, MD and has been in the masonry business for 30 years. Donnie has obtained his knowledge of horses from the best source, his wife, Donna.  He is a great asset to the team and his support is invaluable.

Donna's apprentice is Patti Magennis. Patti has been riding since age 11. She began riding in northern New Jersey where she rode in the Medals and Maclays for equitation, and worked with green ponies for Pony Hunter. Patti has worked along side Lisa May at Idylwild Farm giving lessons as well as therapeutic riding and for 5 years she owned and managed Aerial Stables in Caroline County. She helped people work through their problems with their horses and also taught 4-H and Pony Club students. Patti began working with Donna in Jauary of 2007 and has been a very welcomed addition to the Kingsway team.

Customer testimonials

Dear Donna
As we were leaving Lexington, I quickly said my good byes without telling you personally an extra special Thank you for all you have done for Bella and Mary Ann. You have transformed that horse and you have encouraged and inspired Mary Ann to become a wonderful horsewoman. It has been a pleasure getting to know you. Thank you again for making Bella into the princess we all love.

Sincerely

To Lee at Valour Arabians:

Dear Lee
It always seems to me that we are very prompt to complain about any number of things, but we take little time to compliment or praise. I want to take this opportunity to do the latter.

First, I want you to know that I am thrilled with Shaammah. I was lucky enough to observe him for the first time at Mrs Donna Thompson's facility. The more I saw of him, the more I grew to love him. I feel very blessed that I have been able to purchase him. He has done everything I have asked of him and we are both enjoying our trail rides!

Secondly, I want to let you know that none of this would have been possible without Donna's help and guidance. She is consistently available to work with the horses and she is consistently available to guide, encourage, and instill confidence in a less then perfect adult rider. Her value as a trainer and a businesswoman is well documented. However, you also know that her ability to create a partnership between a horse and rider is perhaps her greatest gift.
Sincerely

A gifted trainer able to clearly communicate problems and solutions to the "human equine equation".  Donna has invested the time and energy in me to succeed at my goals.  A talented rider and instructor with the patience, perserverance and experience to help both horse and rider achieve their full potential.

Dearest Donna
Where do I ever begin to thank you for being such a wonderful partner, friend and mentor all through the (sometimes very stressful) process with Bella. I totally believe that Bella can hold her own with the best of them now.

My deepest admiration and gratitude goes out to you and Patti.

Donna
I'm very pleased with the results of all my horses. Vinnie and Debra couldn't be more happy, and that is what I want when these guys go somewhere else.
Ellis looks wonderful and he is not pacing in his stall. We changed stalls. Seems to have helped along with his keeping busy and your training.
Al, well what to say about Al... I am so pleased with how he looks and his success at a show, albeit a small one, but it counts anyway. And is a much better horse for the experience. I would think that he could go on, so maybe in the spring we could do more together.
Once again I'm very pleased with all, and with you, your skills and your success with these guys.

Thank you for all your advise. Dixie is much better and so am I. I'm learning so much - I just need to calm my nerves more.

Thanks again
